With every new boat design, we learn how vital it is to focus on the details.
The Slick is designed to bridge the gap between pure fun and play potential on one side, and the necessary reserves for serious whitewater on the other. It needs to be easy to control, fly dry over features, and feature a slicy tail that is easy to engage without being over-sensitive when things get heavy. Oh, and it should surf well and spin even better.
As always, the hull platform and the meticulously chosen rocker profile do most of the heavy lifting.
When paddling the Slick flat, you don't initially feel like you're in a half-slice. The wide platform, extending from the bow to just behind the seat, provides incredible stability and keeps the boat high on the water. This makes quick corrections and sweep boofs easy and energy-efficient
For us, a controlled and smooth edge transition without "surprises" is one of the most important handling characteristics of any of our models. With the Slick, this opens up a new dimension where the slicy stern is suddenly activated. This not only unlocks play potential for under-cuts and splats but also allows for very precise and controlled bow-lifting when features get larger than the primary rocker can handle.
The top deck essentially just needs to do a few things well: stay out of the paddler's way, play a key role in smart volume distribution and ergonomics, and—of course—look awesome. Check.
The feedback from our team riders confirms we’ve hit the bullseye. The Slick flies, skips, slices, and splats exactly as planned
